Two Tail, Tale

All the guest dogs have gone home & Duffy misses playing with Lulu. They were like children that just couldn't stop teasing & egging each other on. It was funny in the yard, when Lulu & Duffy chased & played & wrestled until Duffy got freaked out with Lulu's ability to run as fast & faster than he(she has long legs). He would then retreat to his "fort", the agave plants, and peer out at Lulu, who would laugh & bark & coax him out for another round. She was able to go into his fort too, but didn't, allowing him to have his "safe" place. I was very impressed. I wasn't impressed when they chose to wrestle every night in our bedroom & wouldn't stop until I got the spray bottle out and squirted Duffy with water a few times. Watching them at those times was exactly like when you & a friend get the uncontrollable giggles and no matter what, just can't stop. They would lie down, sigh, look at each other & jump up and start again. It was really funny, but tiring after 30 minutes & my wanting to go to sleep. Lulu was a very sweet guest & is welcome always and my dog has gas. OXOX

Three Dog Night

Beauty was dropped off at 6AM this morning. Her name is actually LuLu. We will, for the next 4 days, be a three dog home. We are usually a one dog home, with our goofy, gregarious Soft Coated Wheaten, Duffy (McDuff). He is, without a doubt, the most wonderful dog in the world. He's a lover of two & four legged company & is a very social & welcoming host. We are also keeping Ellie, a very unsocial Jack Russell, who has learned to tolerate Duffy while turning into a very sweet little dog. She just stayed with us for 8 days & after one night home, is staying another 8 days. Whenever her mom travels, we are her home & now she just blends in. BUT, Beauty arrived today. She is a shy, sweet Standard Poodle that has never been without a member of her family around for security. She visited with her mom the other day & had lots of fun playing with Duffy (Ellie sulked in our bedroom) , but she is worried that her family has deserted her. She spent the morning looking out the living room window, searching for a familiar car to pull up. I coaxed her into the family room, with the dogs & me, with little bits of bacon and she has made the big overstuffed chair, her nest. I put a pillow in it, Duffy visits her & she seems quite comfy. They have all eaten breakfast & are now on a fun walk. I think she will settle in & actually have a very good time here because I believe dogs are God's gift to man & deserve lots of attention & spoiling. So, tonight it's going to be a three dog night, and it will be interesting to see if any of us get much sleep, and my dog has gas. OXOX

Been there, done that

My daughters rode the cable cars of San Francisco, hanging from the outside poles, dangling & bouncing up & down the hills. One found it exhilarating, the other, OK. They walked the streets of China town & went in every crappy, touristy gift store . One bought a tee shirt that turned out to be a child's extra large rather than adult & the other purchased nothing. They roamed Fisherman's Wharf & watched the fog roll over the hills & engulf the bay. One went on a boat tour with her dad around Alcatraz & under the Golden Gate Bridge. The other, people watched & had hot cocoa & pastries at a sidewalk table with me. They had hot fudge sundays two days in a row at Ghiradelli Square, rode across the Golden Gate Bridge, got somewhat car sick winding down to Sausalito & had Sunday brunch at the Cliff House Restaurant. On the drive to & from, they saw some beautiful views of the coast, wound through a redwood forest, passed countless acres of wine grapes & agriculture and watched a couple of movies. So,the girls have been to San Francisco and my dog has gas. OXOX
